How it works
The bottle size and pour size are converted to milliliters (1 US fluid ounce = 29.5735 ml). Usable volume is the bottle size minus the spillage and waste percent you enter. Pours per bottle is usable volume divided by pour size; cost per pour is the bottle cost divided by that number, shown to the nearest cent. Pour cost percent is cost per pour divided by the selling price. The lowest price for a target is cost per pour divided by the target percent, rounded up to the next cent.
Worked example
A 750 ml bottle that costs $24.00, poured at 1.5 oz (44.36 ml), gives 16.91 pours and a cost of $1.42 per pour. Sold at $8.00, the pour cost is 17.74% and profit is $6.58 per pour. For a 20% target, the lowest price is $7.10.
Before you use the result
- Pour cost percent counts the liquid only. It does not include garnish, mixers, ice, labor or overhead.
- Cost per pour uses the fractional pours per bottle, so leftover liquid counts as part of the bottle cost.
- The unit menus only convert sizes. The currency menu changes the label and does not convert money.
